LED Lighting

LED lighting uses a portion of the energy of conventional lighting. This type of lighting is inexpensive and should last nearly 50 times longer. For example, conventional GU10 down lights are usually installed with 50 watt halogen lamps; for the equivalent LED retrofit lamp with the same lighting outcome these are ranked at 4.5 watts, so 10% less energy is utilized compared with the conventional 50 watt halogen.

There are definitely big savings to be made: if you were to change over your whole home to LED lighting you could be looking at saving 90% of your usual cost, which is definitely a good thing.

Most LED’s from reliable manufacturers should last for up to 50,000 hours so there are major benefits over the alternative. LED lights can be used in a variety of applications and sites. One good example being stores with fluorescent lighting which is constantly on.
